Join the crew
Four hundred people make this happen for a pass and a meal.
Stewarding is how most of our paid crew started, and it is the fastest way to find out whether you actually like festivals or just like going to them.
Three ways in
Eleven of us are paid. Four hundred are not.
That ratio is not something we are proud of or apologetic about — it is simply what a festival at this price is, and everybody who works it knows the numbers before they start.

Four hundred places
Steward a shift
Two shifts, a full pass, and every meal
Six hours across the weekend on the gate, the food row, the shuttles or the quiet tent. No experience, a briefing on the Thursday, and a named lead you can find at any point. About half our stewards come back the following year and a third of the paid crew started here.

Eleven stalls
Take a stall on the food row
GHS 400 the weekend · no commission
One condition and it is not negotiable: nothing on your counter costs more than sixty cedis. Power, water, waste and a covered pitch are on us. We give preference to traders already working in Aburi or on the Madina road, and we hold two of the eleven for somebody who has never done a festival.

Eleven paid roles
Join the core crew
Paid, seasonal, three to nine months
Production, sound, marketplace, community liaison and stage management. These come up rarely and are filled from the volunteer list more often than not — which is the honest reason to start with a steward's shift if you want one.

What you get
Four things we owe you
Written down because volunteering at festivals has a reputation, most of it deserved.
Everybody eats
Three meals a day from the food row for anybody on a shift, volunteer or paid, and a tea tent that does not close. It is the first line of the budget and it has never been cut.
Six hours, not twelve
Two three-hour shifts across the weekend, scheduled so that nobody misses both headline sets. If a shift overruns you are relieved, not thanked and left there.
You get there and back
The shuttles are yours the same as everybody else's, and the crew bus runs an hour later than the last public one. Nobody stewards a festival and then pays to leave it.
A named lead, always
Every shift has one person whose whole job is that shift, and their number is on the back of your pass. Harassment of crew by anybody — guest, act or vendor — ends the weekend for the other person, and it has, twice.
