What is Rhythm Festival?

Three nights of live Ghanaian music across three stages at Independence Square, Accra, run by Rhythm every December since 2014. Twenty-six acts this year, from highlife bands old enough to have played Independence to producers who have never released anything on physical media.

When and where is it?

04—06 December 2026. The Main Stage is at Independence Square, Accra, The Yard is the Arts Centre courtyard five minutes' walk away, and the Late Room is the basement under the old Ghana Airways building on High Street. One wristband covers all three.

Is it suitable for children?

Under-12s go free with a paying adult and there is a shaded family area beside The Yard until 20:00. After that the Main Stage gets loud and the Late Room is over-18 with ID, no exceptions.

How do I pay, and can I pay at the gate?

MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, card, or cash at our Adabraka office. Gate tickets are sold on the night if we have not sold out — the price is the same, but the queue is not.

What happens if it rains?

The Main Stage and The Yard both have covered stages and partial cover for the crowd; the Late Room is indoors. We have never cancelled a night, and if we ever have to, every pass rolls to the next edition or refunds in full within seven days.

What can I bring in?

Yourself, a phone, a refillable bottle and a folding chair for The Yard. No glass, no professional cameras without a photo pass, no outside drinks. There are eleven food traders and four bars inside.

Grouped, so you can find yours

On the day

Getting in, getting around

How do I collect my wristband?

Show the QR code on your phone at the wristband tent on Barnes Road from noon on Friday. It takes about four minutes. Once it is on, it stays on for all three nights — we do not re-issue cut bands.

How bad are the queues?

Twenty minutes at the very worst, on Saturday between seven and eight. Season and backstage passes have their own lane after 20:00. If you can arrive before seven, do.

What is there to eat?

Eleven traders inside the fence — waakye, kelewele, jollof, chichinga, two vegetarian stalls and one doing nothing but bofrot. Everything is priced at a cap we set, so nothing costs festival money.

I have lost something. Now what?

The welfare tent beside the family area holds everything found on site until a fortnight after the festival, then it goes to the Accra Rescue Mission. Ring the office and describe it.

Tickets and money

Paying, refunds and passing a pass on

Can I give my ticket to somebody else?

Yes, free, up to noon on the day. Send us the new name and phone number and we will reissue it to them. We would rather do that than have an empty space.

What about tickets being resold?

Every pass is tied to a name and a number. We do not void resold tickets — that punishes the buyer — but we will not help you if it turns out not to be real. Buy from us.

Can I have an invoice or a receipt?

A receipt arrives by email straight away. A proper VAT invoice for a company purchase takes a working day — email tickets@rhythm.com with the company name and TIN.

Playing, pitching and getting paid

How do I get on the bill?

Send three tracks and a live video to bookings@rhythm.com any time between January and June. We listen to everything, we reply to everything, and we book four or five new acts every year that came in that way.

Do you actually pay?

Half on signing, the balance on the day, into the account you name. Fees are between ₵2,500 and ₵45,000 depending on the slot and the band size. We have never paid an artist in exposure and we never will.

Is there backline?

A full backline on the Main Stage and The Yard — kit, amps, keys, DI. Bring your own snare and cymbals if you are particular, and everybody is particular.

The company

Hiring us for something else

Will you produce my event?

Probably. We take about forty external shows a year, from four-hundred-capacity rooms to full outdoor builds. Ring the office with a date and a rough headcount and we will tell you inside twenty minutes whether we are the right people.

Do you work outside Accra?

Regularly — Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coast and as far as Lagos and Abidjan. Transport and per diems are quoted into the number rather than added afterwards.

Can I hire the kit without the crew?

Sound and lighting, yes, to operators we know or who can show us a recent job. Stage and truss, no — we build our own structures because we carry the liability for them.
