Crew, not staff

Four people full-time and two hundred freelancers who come back four times a year. Rates are on this page because a rate you have to ask for is usually a bad one.

The core

Four people and two hundred freelancers

The company is four full-time. Everybody else is crew we call four times a year, and most of them have been on the list since before the square.

Crew for December

Rates are per night and paid within seven days of the last shuttle. They are on this page because a rate you have to ask for is usually a rate somebody is ashamed of.

Monitor engineer

GH₵1,400 a night

Freelance · four nights a year

Wedges and in-ears across two stages with a full changeover between every act. You will get a proper line check and you will be finished by four.

Stagehands

GH₵450 a shift

Freelance · build, show, strike

Truss, decks and backline. No experience needed for the build shift, and everyone who does three builds gets put on the show list.

Barrier stewards

GH₵380 a night

Freelance · trained on site

Front-of-stage and gate. Training is paid, on the Thursday before, and the welfare lead runs it rather than an agency.

Lighting programmer

GH₵1,800 a night

Freelance · plus two prep days

Plot the four stages in advance and busk the sunrise set. If you have never busked a sunrise set, this is a good one to start on.

Why come back

Three things crews notice

Paid in seven days

From the last shuttle, every time, including training shifts. We have never missed one and we publish it here so you can hold us to it.

Fed and watered

Two hot meals a shift from the yard, not a lunchbox, and free drinking water everywhere on site for crew and audience alike.

Trained on the rig

Anyone on the build list can spend a paid day on a desk or a lighting console between nights. Three of our four core crew started as stagehands.
