How Alcove came to be
Where it started
A workshop before it was a shop
Alcove began in 2019 as a two bench workshop behind a fabric shop in Osu, making dining tables to order. Selorm cut, joined and finished every piece himself, and delivered most of them in a borrowed pickup.
Those first orders taught us what a Ghanaian home actually asks of its furniture: humid seasons, long evenings, visitors who arrive in numbers. We started designing for that instead of for photographs.
The showroom on Oxford Street came in 2022, and with it a delivery crew of our own, so a sofa could reach Kumasi or Takoradi in the same condition it left the bench.
The online store followed in 2025, the year the four thousandth piece left the workshop. The benches are busier now, but every piece still passes the same pair of hands on its way out.
