Assisting
There are no jobs here,
but there are two seatsOne photographer, about thirty weddings a year, and a room in East Legon. Small enough that this page can tell you exactly what is available and what it pays.
Second photographer
You shoot the second angle on wedding-day bookings: the aisle from behind, the groom's face, the mother in the third row. You keep no copyright and you get every frame you shot for your own portfolio, credited, which is the trade most studios in Accra do not offer.
Your own body and two lenses
At least six weddings already shot
Comfortable at ISO 6400 in a dark church
A driving licence, or a plan for Saturdays in Aburi
Studio & album assistant
Three days a week in East Legon: culling, first-pass edits to a fixed recipe, album layouts, print orders, and meeting couples who come to look through the sample wall. It is the job that teaches you the half of this work that is not the camera.
Lightroom, properly, not approximately
An eye for a frame that is nearly straight
Patience with a couple choosing between two identical photographs
Written English good enough to answer an enquiry

In return
Three things you get
that are not the feeYour name on your frames
Every photograph you shoot is credited to you when it runs anywhere the studio controls, and yours to use in your own portfolio from the day the gallery ships.
The kit, when you need it
Two bodies and six lenses live at the studio. If you are shooting your own wedding on a Sunday and need the 35mm, take it.
Two hours a week, taught
Not a course and not unpaid overtime. Two hours on a Tuesday going through the week's work frame by frame, which is how everybody who has passed through here learnt to edit.
How to apply
Twelve photographs and two sentences
Not a CV, not a website with a splash page, and please not sixty images. Twelve photographs from one wedding — the same wedding, in the order you shot it — and two sentences about why that one. I reply to everybody, usually within a week.
Seats for the November-to-January season are decided in August. Write any time; the folder stays open.

Bookings
Tell me about your day,
and where the light will beHalf an hour, no charge, at the studio in East Legon or on a call. I take about thirty weddings a year and one a day, so the earlier you write the more likely your Saturday is still open.
