Thirty-four people run a season here. Some of them arrived as campers with a rucksack and a name tag, which is still the most common way in.

It is the best job and the longest days.
Six thirty to lights out, six days a week, for one or two fortnights. You live on site, you eat what the campers eat, and you will be tired in a way that is difficult to describe to anybody who has not done it.
You will also spend a summer teaching children to swim, watching a nine-year-old score their first goal, and being the reason somebody's fortnight went well. About two thirds of our staff come back the following year, which is the only recommendation worth quoting.

Three meals and two snacks a day for a hundred and forty people, with a cook and two other assistants. The jollof is not negotiable.
A food handling certificate, and the ability to keep an allergy list in your head as well as on the wall.
How to apply.
Send a CV and a paragraph — not a covering letter, a paragraph — telling us about a time you were responsible for somebody else's child. Applications open on the first of February and we interview through March at the East Legon office and over video.
Everybody who is offered a place attends the paid pre-season week in June, returning staff included. Police vetting and first aid are arranged by us and completed before your first session.
