Our history & goals

Basil opened on Oxford Street in 2014 with eleven covers and one charcoal grill. We cook West African food with a French hand and a Ghanaian larder: fish landed at Tema that morning, rice from the Volta, peppers out of Makola.

The goal has not moved since: cook it properly, price it honestly, and make the room somewhere people want to sit for three hours.
