Twelve things worth knowing first
Booking, parking, what the kitchen can work around, and where exactly on Oxford Street we are.

Everything people ring up to ask
If the answer is not here, the phone is answered between nine and nine, every day.
01
Do I need to book?
For dinner, yes — the room fills from Wednesday onward. Lunch runs straight through from twelve and rarely needs it unless there are more than six of you.
02
How long do I get the table for?
Two hours at the first sitting, and the rest of the night at the second. Nobody will come and stand next to you.
03
Is there parking?
Six spaces off the lane behind the building, then the public lot on Cantonments Road, two minutes' walk.
04
Can you cook for a vegetarian?
Every service has two plates without meat or fish on it, and the kitchen will build a third if you say so when you book.
05
What about allergies?
Tell us at the time of booking and again when you sit down. The kitchen keeps a separate board and separate oil for nut and shellfish allergies.
06
Are children welcome?
Very. Half price under twelve on the lunch set, high chairs at the door, and plain rice and chicken for anyone who wants it.
07
Do you take card?
Card, mobile money and cash. Service is added only for parties of eight and over, at ten per cent.
08
Can I bring my own wine?
₵120 a bottle corkage, two bottles a table on a Friday or Saturday. No charge at all on a birthday cake, and we will plate it.
09
Is the terrace covered?
Yes, and planted. It stays open through the rains, though the far four tables get loud when it is heavy.
10
Do you do takeaway?
The lunch board only, ordered by phone before two. Nothing off the grill travels well enough to send out at night.
11
Can I hire the whole room?
Sundays and Mondays, and by arrangement on any other night. Sixty-four seated, more standing — the private dining page has the numbers.
12
Where exactly are you?
18 Oxford Street, at the top end, opposite the pharmacy. The coral awning is ours.
// Still stuck? //
Ring the room. Somebody picks up.
Between nine in the morning and nine at night, every day including Monday, the phone in the office is answered by somebody who works here rather than by a service.

Secure your table for a memorable meal
Two sittings a night, Tuesday to Sunday. Tables of eight and over are best booked a week ahead — we hold the long table by the window for them.
