Our story

One flatbed, two ladders, 2004

Gable was not planned. It grew one customer at a time, and every turn it took was somebody asking for something the firm had not done before.

How we got here

Twenty years, seven turning points

None of these was a plan. Every one of them was a customer asking for something we had not done before.

2004

One flatbed and a yard behind Spintex

Kwabena Boadu and two fitters, working mostly on referral from a hardware shop that liked how they left a site.

2008

The first commercial contract

A furniture showroom on the Spintex Road, re-sheeted at night. The night-shift habit the firm is now known for started here, out of necessity.

2011

Long-run rolling brought in-house

A site roll-former, so a thirty-metre slope stopped needing a lap joint. Most of the leaks we had been called back to were lap joints.

2014

The written guarantee

Fifteen years on workmanship, printed on the back of every quote. Two competitors told us it was commercial suicide; the phone rang more, not less.

2017

The maintenance round

A Tema estate asked us to look at thirty roofs a year instead of one at a time. It is now a quarter of what we do and the part we are proudest of.

2021

The covered store

Coil and tile bought direct and kept out of the sun, which took four weeks off the average job and a good deal of argument out of pricing.

2026

Four crews, twenty-six people

Two of the four foremen started here as apprentices. The rule about never quoting a roof you have not stood on has not changed since 2004.

What has not changed

The same trade, done slower

Roofing has had very few genuine innovations in twenty years. Coatings are better, fixings are better, and a roll-former on site removed a whole class of leak. Everything else is a person on a ladder taking the time to get a flashing right.

So we have not tried to get faster. We have tried to stop coming back — which is a different objective, and it is the one that has kept the phone ringing since 2004.

Still worth asking

Three things twenty years has not made obvious to anybody ringing for the first time.

Ask us anything

What types of client do you work with?

Households, landlords, managing agents, schools and clinics, and four developers we sub-contract sheeting for. About two thirds of what we do in a year is a single house.

Which areas do you cover?

Greater Accra and the Tema corridor as standard, and Kasoa, Nsawam and Aburi for anything over a hundred square metres. Beyond that we will still come out, but the travel is on the quote and you will see it there.

How do you guarantee design quality?

Fifteen years on workmanship and up to thirty on the sheet, both in writing, plus a free inspection at twelve months. If a fixing we made leaks inside that window we come back at our cost.
