About us

A firm built around keeping, not cutting

Four people, two vans and about four hundred gardens. Here is how we work and who will actually be on your grounds.

Twelve years of kept gardens

Grove began in 2014 with one van, two clients and a founder who had spent nine years on other people's estates watching gardens be cut rather than kept. The difference between those two words is most of what this firm is about.

We now look after around four hundred gardens across Greater Accra — houses in Airport Residential and East Legon, two schools, a handful of office frontages and one small hotel. Every one of them is on a named round with the same two gardeners, because a garden you have to explain from scratch every fortnight is a garden nobody is really responsible for.

We are not the cheapest firm in Accra and we do not try to be. What we are is the firm that turns up on the day it said, tells you when something is dying and why, and leaves the beds mulched rather than the clippings bagged.

Trained gardeners

Every gardener on our books has been through a two-season apprenticeship before working unsupervised on your grounds.

Eco-friendly tools

Battery machines, mulched clippings and no residual herbicides — the garden should be safe to walk on the same afternoon.

Support that answers

One number, one person on it, and a reply the same working day. Nobody here has ever said they will look into it.

How we work

Four things we will not budge on

We quote in writing, before anything is cut, and the quote is the price.

The same two gardeners keep your grounds, every visit, for as long as you are with us.

No residual herbicides anywhere, on any garden, for any reason.

Green waste goes back into your beds as mulch wherever it possibly can.

The team

Four people and two vans

Everybody who will ever be on your grounds is on this page. There is no subcontracting and no agency labour.

Founder and head gardener

Trained at the Aburi Botanical Gardens and spent nine years on estate grounds before starting Grove with one van and two clients. Still walks every new garden himself before a quote goes out.

Afia Boateng, operations manager

Afia Boateng

Operations manager

Runs the rounds, the vans and the rota. If your gardeners arrive on the day they said they would, in the week you expected, that is her doing rather than anybody's good intentions.

At Grove since 2017

Nii Ayitey, planting lead

Nii Ayitey

Planting lead

Designs and plants the beds. Has strong views about frangipani, keeps a propagation bench at the yard, and will happily talk you out of anything that will not survive its second harmattan.

At Grove since 2019

Esi Owusu, client care

Esi Owusu

Client care

The person who answers the phone, and the reason the promise about replying the same working day is one we can actually keep. Handles quotes, schedules and the awkward conversations alike.
