Services

Everything a general hospital should be able to do

Fourteen departments, one building, one record. Most of what follows can be started the day you walk in, and none of it depends on somebody else's laboratory.

What we do

Eight lines of work, under one roof

Every one of these is run by our own staff in our own building. Where we cannot do something — transplant, radiotherapy, complex neurosurgery — we say so and refer, rather than keeping you here while we try.

Accident & emergency

Triage on arrival, a consultant in the department on every shift, and resuscitation, plaster and observation bays behind it.

A&E

Walk in, 24 hours

Specialist outpatients

Clinics in all fourteen departments. Bring a referral if you have one; you do not need one to be seen.

All departments

Usually within 6 days

Maternity & newborn

Antenatal every weekday morning, midwife-led delivery rooms, two theatres for caesareans and a six-cot special care nursery.

Obstetrics

Booking from 8 weeks

Surgery & day cases

General, laparoscopic and orthopaedic lists across four theatres, with our own anaesthetists rather than visiting ones.

Surgery

Listed within 3 weeks

Imaging

Digital X-ray, ultrasound, mammography and a 64-slice CT running around the clock, reported by a radiologist on site.

Radiology

Same day for most

Laboratory & pathology

Haematology, chemistry, microbiology and histology in our own lab. Nothing routine is sent out of the building.

Pathology

Most results in 4 hours

Screening & wellness

Blood pressure, glucose, lipids, cervical and prostate screening, and a full executive check that takes one morning.

Preventive care

Book any weekday

Immunisation & travel

The full Ghana childhood schedule free at point of use, plus yellow fever, typhoid, rabies and hepatitis for travellers.

Paediatrics

Clinic every Tuesday

About Haven

Haven is a 180-bed general hospital on Castle Road in Adabraka, four minutes from the Ring Road Central interchange. We are here for the whole of a life — the antenatal booking, the broken wrist at 2am, the cardiology clinic every second Tuesday — and we would rather know your family than your file number.

Emergency care

A&E is open every hour of the year, with a consultant on the floor rather than on call from home.

Lab & imaging

Bloods, histology, ultrasound, digital X-ray and CT under one roof, most results back the same day.

Vaccines & screening

The full childhood schedule, travel vaccinations, and adult screening for the things worth catching early.

Specialist clinics

Sixty-two resident consultants across fourteen departments, and a referral answered within a week.

NHIS

Accepted for outpatient consultation, the childhood schedule, most laboratory work and the drugs on the national list.

Private schemes

Direct billing with Acacia Health, GLICO Healthcare, Nationwide Medical and Cosmopolitan. Bring the card and the ID.

Paying yourself

Cash, card or mobile money at any of the three sites. A written estimate before anything planned, always.
