Nothing is subcontracted. The person who inspects your property is the person who treats it and the person who comes back to it, and they are on Shield's payroll rather than somebody else's.
Licensed and insured, in writing
Every product we carry is cleared by the Environmental Protection Agency for use in occupied buildings, and the licence number is on the report we leave behind — not filed somewhere in an office.
The quote is the price
You get a fixed figure before anything is sprayed, and it does not move afterwards. No callout charge, no separate inspection fee, and nothing added because the job took longer than we thought.
A written record every time
What was used, at what rate, in which room, and when it needs doing again. Commercial clients get the same thing as a logbook on the wall, because that is what an inspector asks to see.
How we got here
Fourteen years, one van at a time
It started with a kitchen
Shield began in 2012 with one van, one technician and a restaurant on the Spintex Road that had been fumigated four times in a year by three different firms. Fixing that properly took a fortnight and a map of the drains. The restaurant is still a client.
Then the crew, deliberately slowly
We have added roughly one technician every two years, and every one of them spent their first three months riding with somebody else before touching a sprayer. It is the reason we still turn work away in the rains, and the reason nothing gets treated twice.
Now: homes, kitchens and warehouses
About half the work is commercial and half is residential, which is unusual and useful — the discipline a food inspection demands is the discipline we bring to a two-bedroom flat in Dzorwulu.
