Questions

If the answer you need is not here, the phone is answered from eleven every day except Monday.

Booking a Table.

Do we need to book?

Midweek, rarely — walk in before seven and the terrace will usually have something. Friday and Saturday, yes, and at least a week out for anything over six people.

How long will you hold a table?

Twenty minutes, and we will ring you at fifteen. After that it goes to the next party at the door, which on a Saturday is never a long wait.

Is there a time limit on the table?

No. We do not seat a second party behind you, so the table is yours until you stand up. It is the reason Friday bookings go quickly.

What if we need to cancel?

Just call. Deposits on the long table and the terrace are refundable up to fourteen days out; inside that we will move the date rather than keep the money, where we can.

Eating Here.

Why can't you tell me the menu in advance?

Because it is written after the boats land. We can tell you the shape of the meal — oysters, two grilled fish, a rice, a sweet — but not the species, and we would rather say that than promise a snapper we may not have.

Can you cook around allergies?

Vegetarian, vegan, no pork, no dairy and no gluten are all straightforward with notice. A shellfish allergy on this terrace we cannot make safe — the oyster bar is open air and ten feet from every table — and we will say so rather than take the booking.

Are children welcome?

Very. There are high chairs, the kitchen will do a plain grilled fillet with rice off menu, and the sand is directly below the terrace rail where you can see it.

Is there anything for someone who doesn't eat fish?

Kontomire and egusi, coconut jollof, kelewele, and a grilled vegetable board the kitchen will put together. It is not the reason to come, and we will be honest about that on the phone.

Where do we park?

There is space for about forty cars on the sand side of the Beach Road, watched until closing. On a Saturday take a taxi — the last stretch of road backs up badly after seven.

Is there a dress code?

None at all. Half the terrace comes straight off the beach. The one thing worth knowing is that it gets properly breezy after eight and people who brought a layer are glad of it.

What happens if it rains?

The room behind the terrace seats a hundred and thirty and the grill does not care about weather. In a real storm we will call you and offer to move the booking.

Prawns fanned around a bowl of green sauce
A fillet plated dark with herbs and citrus
A white plate of fish with lemon and olive oil
Grilled prawns with three dipping sauces
Oysters on the half shell with lemon
Grilled fish with vegetables and a glass of wine
