Join the bench
Sixty-four people, and room for four more
We publish what the roles pay for the same reason we publish what the tests cost. If you have to ask, somebody is hoping you will not.
Open roles
Four vacancies, with the pay on them
We publish bands rather than 'competitive'. Where you land inside one depends on registration and years at the bench, and we will tell you which at interview rather than after you accept.
Biomedical scientist — clinical chemistry
Spintex, full time
Running the chemistry bench on a two-shift rota, with responsibility for daily calibration and the internal quality programme. AHPC registration required; three years post-qualification preferred.
GH₵5,400 – 7,200
Microbiologist
Spintex, full time
Culture, sensitivity and the antibiotic reporting we send to sixty clinics. You will spend part of every week on the phone to prescribers, so this is not a job for somebody who wants only a bench.
GH₵5,000 – 6,800
Phlebotomist
Osu or Madina, full time
Collections, labelling and getting samples onto the van intact. Training provided if you have the certificate and not the hours; assessed twice a year like everybody else who takes blood here.
GH₵2,600 – 3,400
Front desk and results officer
Spintex, full time
Booking, billing, insurance pre-authorisation and releasing results. The first person most patients meet, which is why we treat it as a clinical role rather than an administrative one.
GH₵2,400 – 3,000

Working here
What the job is actually like
Two shifts, not three
The building opens at six and closes at seven. Nobody works nights, and the Sunday collection rota is shared and paid at time and a half rather than expected.
We pay for registration
AHPC renewal, professional indemnity and one funded course a year for anybody on a bench. A lapsed registration is a lapsed licence, and it is not a cost we push onto the person holding it.
You can stop a result
Anybody here, at any grade, can hold a report they are not happy with and ask for a repeat. Nobody has ever been questioned for it. That is the only quality system that actually works.

How to apply
Send a CV and a short note saying which role and why to the address below. No cover letter template, no portal, no assessment centre. We read everything and reply to everybody, including the ones we are not taking forward.
A reply within ten working days, either way.
One interview at the bench, with the person you would report to.
A half-day paid trial before either side commits.
