Eleven Years, Told Properly
Including the generator that died, the year with nothing in it, and the decision that nearly finished us and turned out to be the making of the company.
2015
One night on a car park in Osu
Four hundred people, a borrowed rig and a generator that died during the last set. Odo Radio came and broadcast it anyway, which is the only reason there was a second one.
2017
Homowo Street Party begins
The Ga Mantse's office let us close a street in Jamestown for the harvest weekend. Two thousand people, no incidents, and the first festival we ran under our own licence.
2019
We bought the PA
Hired-in kit had turned up late twice in a row. We put everything into a line-array system and a truck, which was reckless and is still the best decision this company has made.
2020
The year with nothing in it
Two festivals cancelled, every ticket refunded in full inside a fortnight, and the crew kept on half pay from savings. We came out of it smaller and with a mailing list that trusted us.
2022
Harmattan Nights fills the forecourt
Eleven thousand people in December and the first year we booked a headliner who had toured Europe. Also the year we started paying every act on the night, and never stopped.
2024
The artist development fund
Four new acts a year, funded to make a record after they play the small stage. Two of them have since headlined for somebody else, which is the whole point.
2026
Six festivals and a warehouse in Tema
Kete Drum Weekend and the Azonto Night Market join the calendar, and the rig finally has somewhere to live between builds.

From the founder
People ask what the plan is. There isn't one beyond this: put on the night we would want to go to, pay everybody who makes it happen before we pay ourselves, and leave the field the way we found it. Eleven years in, that has turned out to be a strategy.

Asked often
Since You Are Here
How do I get on the bill?
Send a link — not a file — to hello@bloom.live any time. Adjoa listens to everything that arrives before the end of March, and we put four new acts a year on the small stage at Highlife Garden.
How do I buy tickets, and what can I pay with?
Everything is sold through this site. MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash and Visa or Mastercard all work; you get a QR code by SMS and by e-mail within a minute of paying. There is no booking fee on top of the price you see.
Can I get a refund or pass my ticket to somebody else?
Refunds up to fourteen days before the gates open, in full. After that you can transfer a ticket to another name free of charge through the link in your confirmation, right up until the moment it is scanned.
