Work with us
Eighty-four people, most of them here longer than a decade. Four posts open, and the rota published a month ahead.
Open posts
Four vacancies, as of July 2026
We advertise what is actually open and take the row down when it is filled. If nothing here fits, the last section on this page is still worth reading.
Registered midwife
Antenatal clinics, the delivery room and postnatal follow-up. You would be the fourth midwife, which means the on-call rota goes from one night in three to one in four.
Apply
Sonographer
Obstetric and general scanning, reporting your own images. The list is busy but it is not stacked — we book at twenty-five minutes rather than fifteen, and we mean it.
Apply
Medical officer
Nights and weekends included, one in four, with a consultant on call every hour you are on. Two years post-housemanship or more, and a genuine interest in staying.
Apply
Records officer
Keeping the digital record straight, chasing insurers and getting notes to clinics before the patient arrives. Unglamorous, and the single job that most decides how the building feels.

What we offer
Specifics, rather than adjectives
One night in four, and it is published a month ahead
The rota goes up on the first of the preceding month and it does not move without your agreement. Swaps go through the department rather than through a group chat at eleven at night.
Ten days of study leave and the fees with it
Paid, every year, plus college examination fees for anybody sitting one. Four of our six consultants did part of their training while working here.
Nursing ratios we will tell you before you apply
One to six on the general ward, one to three in the private rooms, two on the floor in the emergency room at every hour. Ring and ask — we do not treat it as commercially sensitive.
Care here for you and your household
Consultations, laboratory work and the ward, free, for you and for anybody living in your house. It has been the arrangement since 2003 and nobody has ever proposed changing it.
Applying
Three steps, no portal
01
Send a CV and a paragraph
The paragraph matters more than the CV. Tell us what you want to be doing in five years, even if the honest answer is somewhere other than here.
02
Come and see the place
Before any formal interview. Walk the floor, meet the department, ask the people already doing the job what the rota is really like. We leave the room for that part.
03
An answer within two weeks
Yes or no, from a person, with a reason. Nobody who applies here is left to work it out from silence.
Nothing here fits?
Write anyway
Two of the people on this staff created their own jobs by writing to Dr Nyarko about something the centre was not doing yet. If you are a clinician in Accra with an idea about what a hospital this size should be able to offer, that letter gets read.
