One room, then a bench
The firm started in 1998 with one advocate, one telephone line and a customs dispute over a container of fabric. Here is everything that happened next.

Twenty-eight years, one address
The firm has moved once, in 2011, and about a hundred metres. Everything else that changed is on this list.
1998
A room above a pharmacy in Osu
Selorm Merit Adzah is called to the Bar and takes a lease on one room and a shared telephone line. The first client is a fabric importer disputing a customs valuation.
2004
The first partner, and the first bench
Ama Serwaa Boateng joins from a Cape Town practice. The firm stops being one advocate with help and becomes a partnership with two practices — corporate and litigation.
2011
Osu Badu Street
Four floors, a proper library and a hearing room clients can wait in. It is the address on every letter since.
2016
Property, then energy
A run of land matters for a single developer turns into a practice; two years later, licensing work for an independent power producer does the same.
2021
The pupillage programme
Two pupils a year, each with a partner who reads every draft. Nineteen have come through since, and eleven still practise in Accra.
2026
Band 1, and no bigger
Ranked in the first band for commercial work in Ghana — with six advocates, which is the size the partners keep choosing.
What has not changed
The founder still takes new matters himself.
Every enquiry that arrives is read by a partner on the day it lands. That was true when there was one of us and a shared telephone, and it is true now — it is the only tradition here worth the word.
