How an account starts

Four steps, and the first one costs nothing. Most kitchens are pouring our coffee within a fortnight of the first call.

01

A taste session

Come to the roastery on a Saturday, or we bring four flasks to your counter and you taste them beside whatever you pour now.

02

A price and a day

We agree a rate on the kilo and the morning it lands. Nothing is signed for longer than a season, and the rate holds for it.

03

The machine, dialled in

We come in before you open, set the grinder to your water, and stand with whoever is making it until it tastes the way it did on the bench.

04

A standing delivery

It arrives the same morning every week, roasted the Tuesday before. Tell us by Friday if the number has changed and we adjust it.

Who pours it

Six of the places you can drink Roast in Accra without buying a bag. There are others, and these are the ones happy to have their name on a website.

Osu

Bloom Coffee Bar

Six kilos of the Atlas a week, ground for their machine, in on Monday and Thursday before they open.

Airport West

Nkyinkyim Kitchen

Espresso for the bar and the Kwahu natural on the after-dinner trolley, whole bean, every Friday.

Ridge

The Fourth Floor

Eight kilos a month for ninety desks, a grinder on loan, and somebody who comes to clean it.

A barista pouring milk into a cup on a wooden counter

Cantonments

Villa Ababio

Drip bags in all fourteen rooms and the Volta on the breakfast bar, restocked on the first.

Two croissants on plates beside a cup of coffee on a bright table

Labone

Serwaa's Bakery

Four kilos of whatever came off the drum that week, collected from the roastery on Saturday morning.

Roasted beans poured from a kraft bag into an open hand

Achimota

Achimota Preparatory

Two kilos a fortnight for the staff room, invoiced to the school at the end of every term.

The terms, plainly

Everything except the rate, which depends on how much you get through and what you want it roasted like. That part is what the call is for.

Minimum order

Four kilos a week, or eight a month

Delivery days

Monday and Thursday, inside Accra

Invoicing

Monthly, thirty days, transfer or mobile money

Equipment loan

Grinder on loan over eight kilos a month

Training

Two mornings at your counter, included

We poured somebody else's coffee for four years and changed roaster twice. What settled it was the Tuesday. It is the same morning every week, it is the same coffee every week, and the one time a delivery was late somebody drove it over himself at half past six.
