Mother & Child

Two pregnancies, one folder

Ama booked her first antenatal appointment in 2019 and her second in 2024. Both are in the same record, which is why the second was managed differently from the first week — and why nobody had to ask her what happened last time.

“I have been coming here since my first pregnancy. What keeps me is that Dr. Owusu remembers what we discussed last time without opening the folder, and she tells you the truth even when it is not the answer you wanted.”

Emergency Care

A Sunday evening in the emergency room

Kofi's father arrived unresponsive at 7.40pm and was on a monitor by 7.48. He was transferred to a teaching hospital the following morning with a full set of notes and a doctor's phone number, and came back here for every review afterwards.

“My father collapsed on a Sunday evening. They had him on a bed and on a monitor in under ten minutes, and somebody stayed with my mother the whole time and explained what was happening. I will not forget it.”

Preventive Care

A screening that changed a number

Esi came in for a routine annual screen with no symptoms. Two results came back outside the range, and a change of medication and four follow-ups brought both back within it inside a year.

“I booked a screening expecting to lose a whole Saturday to it. Bloods at nine, results by noon, and the doctor called me himself to go through the two numbers that were off. That is not how this normally goes.”
