Frequently Asked Questions
The things reception is asked most, answered here so you do not have to ring for them.
Frequently asked
The five reception is asked most. Anything else, call the desk — somebody answers between 7.30am and 8pm.
Ask us something else1. Do I need an appointment before visiting?
For a routine consultation, yes — booking keeps the wait under fifteen minutes and lets us pull your file first. Emergencies never need one, at any hour.
2. What are your consultation hours?
Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 8pm, and Saturdays 8am to 4pm. The emergency room and the observation bay are staffed around the clock, including public holidays.
3. Do you offer online consultations?
For follow-ups and repeat prescriptions, yes. A first consultation is in person, because an examination is most of what a first appointment is for.
4. What should I bring to my appointment?
A photo ID, your NHIS card if you hold one, and any medicines you are currently taking — the boxes rather than a list, if you can.
5. Do you accept health insurance?
We are an NHIS-accredited facility and bill the major private schemes directly, including Nationwide, Acacia, GLICO and Apex. Reception will confirm cover before you are seen.
Everything else, by desk
Grouped by whoever answers the phone for it, so you know who to ask if the answer here is not enough.
Booking and arriving
How far ahead should I book?
Two or three days for a named consultant, same day for the general list. Saturdays fill by Thursday.
What happens if I am late?
Come anyway. Reception will fit you into the next gap rather than sending you home, though the wait may be longer.
Is there parking?
Fourteen spaces off Boundary Road and free street parking after 6pm. The ambulance bay is kept clear at all times.
Paying and insurance
Which schemes do you bill directly?
NHIS, Nationwide, Acacia, GLICO, Apex and Metropolitan. Anything else is paid at the desk with a receipt for your own claim.
Do you take mobile money?
MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash and cards at the desk. Corporate accounts are invoiced monthly.
Will I be told the cost first?
Yes. Reception quotes the consultation and any test before it happens, and nothing is added afterwards without asking you.
Tests, records and results
How long do results take?
Most routine panels are back the same day. Cultures take two to three days, and histology up to a week.
Can I get my records to take elsewhere?
Yes, printed or as a PDF, usually within two working days. There is no charge for your own records.
Do you refer to specialists you do not have?
Regularly. We hold standing arrangements with both teaching hospitals and write the referral the same day.
Still stuck? The desk answers between 7.30am and 8pm, seven days.
