The small things
The hour nobody photographs,
and the frames from itThe beads laid out on the bed, the ring going on, the drums starting up in the yard. These are the pictures couples come back to years later, and they take about forty minutes of the day.

What you are looking at is about forty frames out of nine years. Every couple here received six hundred or more, and the ones that did not make a portfolio — her father's face at the door, the cousin asleep under a table at eleven at night — are usually the ones they printed.
