Our doctors
The people who will actually see you
Six consultants who work here rather than visit, and a nursing team trained in this building.
Book an appointmentThe bench
Six consultants, and the wards they run
Every one of them holds a substantive post here rather than visiting from somewhere else twice a month.
In their own words
What each of them has spent a career arguing for — which is usually a better guide to a doctor than the letters after a name.

Dr Ama Frimpong
Internal medicine
Consultant since 2013
Runs the general medical clinic and the diabetes programme. Has argued for years that most of what a hospital calls a complication is a review appointment somebody missed.
MBChB (Legon), MWACP, FGCP

Dr Kwabena Ofori
Cardiology
Consultant since 2015
Echocardiography, hypertension and heart failure. Set up the hospital's same-day chest-pain pathway after a year of watching people wait a fortnight for a scan.
MBChB (KNUST), MRCP (UK), FWACP

Dr Naa Adjeley Tetteh
Obstetrics and gynaecology
Consultant since 2016
Leads the maternity service. Believes a birth plan is a conversation rather than a form, and that a woman should meet the person who will deliver her before the day itself.
MBChB (Legon), MGCS, FWACS

Dr Yaw Antwi
Radiology
Consultant since 2014
Reports MRI, CT and ultrasound on site. The same-day report is his doing: he reads the morning's list before clinic rather than at the end of the week.
MBChB (KNUST), FWACS (Radiology)

Efua Danso
Director of nursing
At the hospital since 2012
Runs the wards, the theatre recovery team and the training programme. Every nurse here does a fortnight of communications training before their first shift, which was her idea.
RGN, BSc Nursing (Legon), MPH

Dr Kofi Asare
General and day surgery
Consultant since 2017
Hernia, gallbladder and laparoscopic work. Built the day-surgery list so that most people are home for supper rather than staying a night they did not need.
MBChB (Legon), MGCS, FWACS
Consultant clinics run six days a week. If you would rather see the same doctor each time, say so when you book — continuity is the default here, not a request.
Personalised care
We build every plan around one person's history, one person's household and one person's working week — not around an average patient.
Zenith
“The medical team was skilled and truly attentive, handling every detail with care and giving me full confidence throughout my treatment.”
Adjoa Mensimah
Maternity patient
