Before You Ring
How far ahead do I need to book?
The room usually has something the same week and often the same evening — ring and ask. The counter runs about three weeks out, and Tuesdays are always easier than Fridays.
Can I walk in?
Yes, for the room. We hold eight seats back every night for people who did not plan ahead. The counter is booked only.
Is there anything for a vegetarian?
A third of the menu, and it is not an afterthought — the garden egg roll and the shiitake handroll are two of the four things we sell most of.
I don't eat raw fish. Is this pointless?
Not at all. Half the kitchen menu is cooked, the tempura and the karaage are worth the trip on their own, and the ramen has its own following.
Can I bring children?
In the room, gladly, and there is a small plate for them that is mostly rice and tamago. The counter is a two-hour sitting and we would gently steer you to the room.
How do you handle allergies?
Tell us when you book and again when you sit down. Sesame and soy are in nearly everything; we can work around most other things with a day's notice.
How do I pay?
Cash, card or mobile money. The price on the board is the price — there is no service charge added at the end.
Where do I park?
There is space for nine cars behind the building off Kuku Hill. After seven, Oxford Street itself is usually easier on foot than by car.

Still Asking?
Ring the house on 030 273 4180 between noon and ten and somebody who works here will pick up. For anything about a large party or an allergy, that is much faster than writing.
