Four vacancies
We are eleven and we would like to be fourteen. Everybody here came from another firm or from nothing at all, and both routes are open.
Electrician
Full time · Accra
Certified, with your own hand tools and at least three years on domestic work. You would run your own diary within a month and take the fault-finding calls the others do not want.
Plumber
Full time · Accra
Domestic repairs, water heaters and drainage. Second-fix experience matters more than a certificate here, though we will pay for the certificate if you want one.
Bench carpenter
Full time · Spintex workshop
Fitted furniture and door work in our own workshop rather than on the road. Seth runs it and has been looking for the right second pair of hands for two years.
Apprentice, any trade
Three years · Accra
No experience needed and none expected. Paid from the first week, tools provided, and a place at the polytechnic one day a fortnight that we pay for. We take two a year.
The terms
What you actually get
Paid monthly, on the 25th, without exception
SSNIT and health cover from your first day
Tools, van and fuel are ours, not yours
Overtime paid at time and a half, or taken back
A day a fortnight of training, on our time
Nobody is asked to work a Sunday twice running
None of that is generous. It is the legal minimum done properly and on time, which in this trade is apparently unusual enough to be worth writing down.
