Appointments long enough to do the work
Forty minutes for a new patient, thirty for a restoration. Nobody here is asked to hit a number of patients a day, and nobody is paid a percentage of what they sell.
A laboratory down the corridor
Talk to the technician about the shade rather than writing it on a form. It is the single biggest difference between working here and working somewhere that posts its impressions abroad.
Forty hours of training, paid
More than the Council requires, chosen by you rather than by us, and taken on practice time. Two of the team teach at Korle Bu on the strength of it.
One term day a month in Adenta
The school screening programme runs on clinician time and the practice pays for it. It is voluntary, and everybody who has tried it has kept doing it.

Associate dentist

Four or five days, general practice with as much restorative work as you want. Registration with the Medical and Dental Council and two years post-qualification are the only hard requirements.

Working alongside Adwoa on the recall programme, with your own room and your own list. Twenty-minute technique sessions with new patients are part of the job rather than an extra.

Crown and bridge work in our own laboratory, with the clinicians two doors away and the patient occasionally in the room. Milling and printing experience welcome, not required.
