How early should we come to you?
Twelve to eighteen months for a Saturday in the dry season, because the venues and the good caterers go first. We have planned a wedding in eleven weeks and would rather not do it again.
Do you plan the traditional ceremony as well?
Yes, and for most of our couples it is the bigger of the two days. Yaw handles the knocking list, the drinks, the gifts and the order of speaking, and we run the engagement and the white wedding as one weekend rather than two jobs.
What does a wedding here actually cost?
A hundred and fifty guests in Accra, done well, lands between GHS 180,000 and GHS 400,000 depending mostly on the venue and the food. We will tell you honestly in the first meeting if your number and your guest list disagree.
Do we have to use your suppliers?
No. We keep a list of people we have worked with and would use again, and we are happy to work with yours — we will read their contract either way, because that is most of what a planner is for.
Do you take commission from suppliers?
No, and it is written into our contract. Our fee is the only money we make on your wedding, which is the only way our advice about who to book can be worth anything.
Will you travel outside Accra?
Often. Aburi, Ho, Cape Coast and Kumasi are ordinary for us, and we have done Elmina and Akosombo more than once. Outside Greater Accra we add travel and two nights for the crew, quoted up front.
Can you look after guests flying in?
Yes. Adjoa blocks hotel rooms, sends one clear travel note to everybody, arranges airport runs and handles the visa letters. It is included in the Full Plan and quoted separately otherwise.
How do we pay you?
A third to hold the date, a third six months out and the balance a month before. Everything in cedis, on an invoice, against a schedule you approved at the start.
Anything we have not covered, write to us. We answer everything ourselves and usually within a day.
