Chairs dressed in white linen set out on grass for a wedding ceremony

Our story

One wedding in Aburi, and a rule about weekends.

Twelve years, three hundred and forty weddings, and the decisions that turned a favour for a family friend into a planning house.

Twelve years

How the house got here.

2014

One wedding, one planner

Ama left a hotel group with nine years of events behind her and took a single wedding in Aburi for a family friend. The fee was GHS 3,000 and the running order was four pages long. It is still in the office.

2016

The rule about weekends

Two weddings on one Saturday in July, both fine, both survived rather than run. We wrote the one-wedding-a-weekend rule that November and have never broken it since — including the year it cost us four bookings.

2018

Traditional rites become half the job

Yaw joined and the house stopped treating the engagement as the warm-up. Most of our couples were already planning two ceremonies; from that year we planned them as one weekend with one crew.

2020

Twenty-two postponements

Every couple was moved rather than cancelled, and nobody was charged twice for the work. It is the year that taught us to write the date-change clause we still use, and the year most of our referrals come from.

2022

The budget sheet becomes the product

Serwaa rebuilt how we hold money: real quotes, real dates, one sheet the couple can open any day. More couples have hired us because of that sheet than because of any photograph on this site.

2024

Volta Street

The office moved to Airport Residential with a room big enough to lay a full table in. Every design we sell is now built once, in that room, before anybody spends money on it.

2026

Thirty a year, and no more

Six planners, about thirty weddings and roughly twice that many turned down. The number is not modesty — it is the only way the promise on the front page stays true.

From the founder

I have never once been thanked for a centrepiece. I have been thanked, every single time, for the fact that nobody's mother had to do anything.

That is the whole business, and it is why we plan rather than book. If you are looking for somebody to find you a venue, there are people who will do it for less than we charge. If you want a weekend that runs itself, we should talk.
